Eligibility:-EES research scholarships are available to American citizens in the early stages of their academic careers (generally before tenure but after Ph.D.) or to scholars whose careers have been interrupted or delayed.
-For non-academics, an equivalent degree of professional achievement is expected.
-Research scholarships will be awarded for 2-4 months of research in Washington, DC. Office space at the Wilson Center and a research assistant will be provided whenever possible.
-This is a residential program requiring visiting scholars to remain in the Washington, DC area and to forego other academic and professional obligations for the duration of the grant.

Scholarship Description: EES offers residential research scholar grants to scholars working on policy relevant projects on East Europe. While Southeast Europe remains a primary focus, projects on Central Europe and the Baltic states are again eligible. Projects should focus on fields in the social sciences and humanities including, but not limited to: Anthropology, History, Political Science, Slavic Languages and Literatures, and Sociology.

National Association of Student Anthropologists, travel grants for 2011 Annual Meeting in Montreal‏

The National Association of Student Anthropologists (NASA), a section
of the American Anthropological Association, is pleased to announce
its competition for the 2011 Travel Award. This award provides partial
financial support ($100.00) to NASA members attending the 2011 Annual
Meeting in Montreal, Canada.

To be considered, students must submit a 350 word statement that
addresses what they see as the future direction of anthropology and
what NASA's role should be as we continue to support students in the
discipline. Graduate and undergraduate prizes will be awarded.

All applicants must be current members of the National Association of
Student Anthropologists.

Current or incoming officers and prior recipients of the Travel Award are
ineligible.

Visual Arts Grants at Fundacion Botin, Santander (Spain). Deadline: 6 May 2011
The FUNDACION BOTIN assigns 220.000 € to Visual Arts Grants for
study, research and the undertaking of individual projects in the
sphere of (non-theoretical) artistic work. Artists may be any
nationality.
___The Fundación Botín may award one grant to an artist from, or
resident in, Cantabria, as long as this application involves a change of
residence.
___The grants are individual, indivisible and non-transferable. They do
not cover family provisions.
___The grants are incompatible with any other institutional funding.
1. DURATION
___The period covered by the grants will be 9 months. Grants involving
relocation can be extended for a second period, depending on the
outcome of a further application made before the closing date of the
annual edition of the grants.
2. STIPEND
___Not involving a change of residence: 16.000 euros.
___Involving relocation in a country other than your current residence:
24.000 euros.
___Involving relocation in United States of America: 28.000 euros.
___The aforementioned amounts include trips, accommodation,
maintenance, studio rent, etc.
___These amounts will be incremented to include medical insurance and,
in cases of study, the registration fees of the chosen Education
Centre, pending approval, will be covered by the Fundación Botín.
___These grants are subject to applicable taxes.
___Payment: 45% at the beginning of duration, 25% in the two following
quarters and 5% on receipt of the final report (section 4, point 4).
3. CONDITIONS
___Applicants for study grants must be between 23 and 40 years old.
There is no age limit for the research grants.
___After being awarded, the grants shall be effective for the stipulated
period and without interruption. Grants must be initiated before the
end of 2011.
___The grants are considered definitively designated when the Fundación
receives the written acceptance from the applicant.
___Participation in Fundación Botín Grant Awards implies total
acceptance o rules and conditions.
4. OBLIGATIONS
___Grants awarded by Fundación Botín must be mentioned in any
documentation produced during the period covered by them.
___If the possibility of a publication should arise thanks to the grant, the
Fundación Botín will have the first option to produce it. Should the
Fundación decide to waive this option, the publication must refer to
the artist as a Fundación Botín grant-winner.
___The Fundación Botín may, during the period covered by the grant,
directly or through its delegates, assess the progress and development
of the project submitted.
___In the month following the end of the grant, the grant-winner agrees
to send to the Fundación Botín a paper and PC compatible media
report which, referring to the aims outlined in the application, makes
a final evaluation of the results and the use that has been made of it,
together with visual documentation of the works executed. On receipt
of this report the grant is finished, and the remaining 5% will be
tendered.
___The exhibition agenda of the Fundación Botín will include an
exhibition which premieres the works realized by the artists during the
period covered by the grant. To this end the grant-winners must
facilitate the Fundación with all the information, documentation and
loans of the works that may be required, as well as making sure they
do no take part in any solo shows in Cantabria before this date.
___The Fundación Botín will select one of the grant-winner’s works to
form part of its collection.
___Failure to comply with the rules outlined here empowers the
Fundación to pursue the matter in the manner it considers necessary.
5. DOCUMENTATION
___Application form correctly filled out.
___Photocopy of Identity Card or Passport.
___Passport size photo of applicant.
___Full address and telephone numbers of both place of origin and
destination.
___Curriculum vitae, indicating academic qualifications, professional
activities, exhibitions, prizes, scholarships, etc. (3 DinA4 maximum).
___Graphic Documentation, prints or color photocopies of the work of the
artist (originals will not be accepted, as well as accompanying
documentation such as catalogs, brochures, original works, etc.).
For Individual Projects and Research: Project title and summary (one hundred words maximum). Memory of the Project: goal, action plan (stages of development and
schedule) and your personal reasons for wanting to carry it out. (10
DinA4 maximum).
For Study Grants: Information about the Educational Center or Residence Center elected
(location, dates, fees, etc.). Memory of personal reasons about the convenience of the stay and its
relation to current projects (3 DinA4 maximum). The Foundation reserves the right to request, upon indication from the
jury, the submission of documents.
The documentation provided with the application should preferably be
in Spanish; English will be accepted in exceptional. For organizational issues and valuation, the documentation of the
applicant must be submitted in DIN A4 format occupying a maximum
of 40 DINA4 (should not have staples, nor be bound). Any application
that does not conform to this standard will be rejected. In case of
audiovisual projects, the artist can make a DVD accompanying the
dossier required. Please note that BECA DE ARTES PLÁSTICAS should be written on the
envelope The dossier submitted will not be returned after the resolution.
6. SELECTION A jury appointed for the task will make the selection. The decision of
the Fundación Botín will be final. Once the date for applications is
closed the jury will be published.
7. ADMISSION The closing date for applications is 2.00 p.m. on Friday 6th of May
2011 at the Fundación Botín. Applications received at the Fundación
Botín in the week after the closing date will be accepted if they bear
a postmark prior to 6th of May 2011.The decision will be made public after the 15th of July 2011.
This year we also offer the possibility of the application form through
our web site www.fundacionbotin.org. The remaining documents will
have to be sent by ordinary mail.

Research grants are awarded twice a year. Grants are reviewed and evaluated by the AAE Research and Scientific Affairs Committee. Grant recipients are notified after Annual Session for the spring cycle and after the Foundation Board of Trustees Interim Meeting for the fall cycle. Per review cycle, the highest scoring student and nonstudent research proposals receive special recognition and an additional $500 award.
