Eligibility:
Candidates for this fellowship are highly motivated, current, non-graduating graduate or undergraduate students from underrepresented communities of color. Each candidate should have an excellent academic record and also have the following: 1. Demonstrated interest or experience in nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, and the social sector; 2. Excellent research and writing skills; 3. Demonstrated financial need; and 4. U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency.

Scholarship Description: The Aspen Institute Program on Philanthropy and Social Innovation (PSI) in Washington, DC, offers the William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fellowship three times annually. The fellowship, which is based on academic excellence and need, is open to both undergraduate and graduate students of color. The Hearst Fellow serves as an intern with PSI in the Washington, DC office of the Aspen Institute. Through this fellowship, PSI seeks to introduce a diverse group of students to issues and challenges affecting philanthropy, social enterprise, nonprofit organizations, and other actors in the social sector. Recipients may arrange with their colleges or universities to receive academic credit for this experience. The Aspen Institute Program on Philanthropy and Social Innovation seeks to inform and maximize the impact of grantmaking foundations, nonprofit organizations, social enterprises, and public-private partnerships through leadership development initiatives, convenings, and communications so that each can contribute to the good society at home and abroad.

The Individual Advanced Research Opportunities Program (IARO) provides students, scholars and professionals with support to perform policy relevant field research in the countries of Eastern Europe and Eurasia.

In addition to engaging in research in the region, the IARO fellowship gives scholars the opportunity to increase their understanding of critical, policy relevant issues, develop and sustain international networks, and collaborate with foreign scholars on topics vital to both the academic and policy-making communities.
Application Information
Project Activities

Applicants to the IARO program can propose to do research in up to three countries for up to nine months. As part of the IARO fellowship, participants are provided with visa assistance, international roundtrip transportation, a monthly allowance for housing and living expenses, as well as emergency evacuation insurance. IARO fellows also have access to resources available in any of IREX’s field offices.

Singapore - MIT Alliance Graduate Fellowship at SMART Location: Singapore DL: 15 July 2011

The Ministry of Education has recently launched a prestigious Singapore-MIT (Massachusetts Institute of
Technology) Alliance (SMA) Graduate Fellowship. These 4-year SMA Graduate Fellowships are available for highly talented doctoral graduate education and research for students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS) who wish to conduct their research at Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) Centre.
The selection of candidates will take place twice a year, in time for the start of the semesters in August and January.
a) Eligibility
The Fellowships  are open to students of all nationalities who gain admission to any Ph.D. programme at the University where research interest fits within one or more of projects currently being carried out in on of the SMART Interdisciplinary Research Groups (IRGs) :
  • BioSystems and Micromechanics (BioSYM);
  • Center for Environmental Sensing and Modeling (CENSAM);
  • Infectious Disease (ID)
  • Future Urban Mobility (FUM)
The student must have graduates with an undergraduate degree at the level of a first class or second uppers (equivalent).
b) Award Amount
  • A monthly stipend of S$3,200
  • Cover all tuition fees at NTU and other compulsory fees
  • A travel grant of S$12,000 to help cover the expenses associated with a six-month research residency at MIT (travel grant covers airfare; MIT housing; MIT visiting student fee and health insurance)
c) Award Period
The award is tenable for 1 year in the first instance; but subject to the Fellow's satisfactory progress, it may be renewed annually. The maximum period of award is four years. For more information

Eligibility:-Applicants must have a well-defined research or study project that makes a stay in Scandinavia essential.
-Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent residents.
-Applicants must have completed their undergraduate education by the start of their project in Scandinavia.
-Team projects are eligible, but each member must apply as an individual, submitting a separate, fully-documented application.
-First priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received an ASF award. Only in exceptional cases will a third award be considered.
Scholarship Open for International Students: No

Scholarship Description: The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) offers fellowships (up to $23,000) and grants (up to $5,000) to individuals to pursue research or study in one or more Scandinavian country for up to one year. The number of awards varies each year according to total funds available. Over $300,000 is available for the 2012-13 competition. Awards are made in all fields.Projects should be planned to fall within the summer 2012 – summer 2013 period. Grants are considered especially suitable for post-graduate scholars, professionals, and candidates in the arts to carry out research or study visits of one to three months duration. Fellowships are intended to support a year-long stay. Priority is given to candidates at the graduate level for dissertation-related study or research.
The awards support project-related costs, including maintenance, trans- Atlantic round-trip travel, in-country travel, tuition and fees (where applicable) and materials expenditures (e.g., books, photocopying, art supplies). ASF awards may require supplementation from other sources, but they should not duplicate the benefits of additional awards (and vice versa). Candidates must notify the ASF if they have received other award offers. The ASF will not provide funds if, in its judgment, a proposal can be carried out without its assistance.

Rajbir Singh Scholarship for Students from Developing Countries at University of Westminster, UK

This scholarship was established in memory of Rajbir Singh, a former student on the MA Fashion Business Management course. Preference will be given to students who come from developing countries with major cotton industry and who wish to study subjects relevant to the development and sustainability of that industry. Unless you are eligible for any of the specific scholarships below, you should tell us honestly the level of funding you require and if you are awarded a scholarship we will decide which one to offer you.
