Internship at Assembly of European Regions in Brussels Office 2011
The Assembly of European Regions (AER) is the largest independent network of regions in wider Europe. Bringing together more than 270 regions from 34 countries and 16 interregional organisations, AER is the political voice of its members and a forum for interregional co-operation.
AER is looking for an intern to work for minimum 6 months in AER's Brussels Office.
DUTIES:
You will be expected to contribute to the everyday activities of the AER Brussels office:
- Draft the AER daily monitoring, a web-based daily news publication
- Help prepare AER events held in Brussels
- Participate in external events on behalf of AER and report back with relevant information
- Liaise with regions’ Brussels offices (client relations) and manage the AER Brussels offices database
- Research specific policy issues and prepare background papers for Secretariat staff and AER members
- Assist staff with the daily office management task, including dealing with telephone and written inquiries
PROFILE:
Candidates should have a good understanding of European policies and decision-making procedures, with a sound academic background in a policy area related to AER’s work.
Candidates should be highly computer literate and independant IT users (MAC). They should be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of basic office and be comfortable to quickly learn to use new tools.
Candidates should demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills and client relations and be able to interact well face-to-face and over the phone.
Candidates must have good administrative and organisational skills and should be at ease with multi-tasking.
The successful candidate must be proficient in English and French.
CONDITIONS:
AER internships are only open to candidates registered in a University/school/institute or eqivalent body, as a contract must be signed by the AER and the student's home faculty. Please note that this is a compulsory condition; applications that do not match this criteria will automatically be disregarded. Compensation: Students receive 150 euros per month for their training period. Please note that travel and living costs must be met by the students.
