The week-long training programme is designed to provide you with lectures
and sessions centred around practical examples and case studies, while
maintaining an interactive and discussion-oriented approach and environment.

Through the programme participants will learn basic investigative
techniques, to structure an investigation and preparing a story memo, about
computer-assisted reporting skills, to use the web and public records as
sources of information and more.

*Investigative Initiative Fund for the Best Story Idea*

From day one, students will work and collaborate actively in small groups to
pitch an investigative story idea. The Investigative Initiative Fund will
sponsor the best proposal and the winners will have the opportunity to
research and develop their idea into a full story.

*And Finally, Lots of Sun and Fun*

This year, The BIRN Summer School is set in Opatija, on the beautiful and
entertainment-rich Croatian Adriatic coast.

Republic of Croatia Offers Scholarship for International Students and Professors

Scholarships for foreign students and professors of higher education institutions as well as research fellows who intend to gain further professional experience in Croatian institutions of higher education or research by the The Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia offers

Scholarship Description
: The Ministry of Science, Education and Sports welcomes applications by citizens of countries (and territories) that have a valid/effective educational co-operation programme with Croatia, or a bilateral agreement signed by the Croatian Government or the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports and the relevant ministry of the given country (or territory).
These scholarships allow for study or research in any field of arts and sciences during the granted period at an accredited public Croatian higher education or research institution to be determined in advance.
Cases of non-eligibility
o Foreign citizens with a residence permit or in the course of applying for a residence permit in Croatia cannot apply;
o Students applying for part-time study programmes cannot apply;
o Students applying for non state-financed universities cannot apply.
Age limits for applicants
o 25 years for scholarships for undergraduate / graduate studies;
o 35 years for scholarships for postgraduate studies;
o 45 years for postdoctoral scholarships.
There are no age limits for the following types of scholarships:
o research visit
o summer courses
