The *Institute for East-Central Europe and the Balkans* (IECOB) is pleased
to announce an open call for representatives of Civil Society Organizations
(CSOs) interested in participating in the
*17th International Summer School
Beyond Enlargement. The Wider Europe and the New Neighbourhood* *4th - 17th
September 2011

The aim of the summer school is to help participants learn about democratic
developments, human rights, peace and security issues, and European
integration.
*In particular the 2011 will offer an arena for exchange experiences as well
as tools for strengthening the actions of activists in the Central and SEE
Region, for fighting against discrimination (within the broader framework of
Diversity Management) and spreading new sense of economic development (with
a special reference to Green Economy and Sustainable development).*
The summer school is supported by the CEI and the P2P Programme of the
European Commission and particularly designed for participants belonging to
CSOs from the Western Balkans. *Scholarships* are available for CSOs
representatives who are citizens of the following countries: Albania, Bosnia
and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo, and Turkey.
The call for applications is open until *28th June 2011*. Interested

Call for Applications-PhD Programmes at University of Bologna, Italy

Eligibility:1.An Italian university degree (vecchio ordinamento -4 years); .
2.An Italian university degree (laurea specialistica/magistrale -3+2 years); .
3.An academic Master’s degree awarded by a foreign institution/University, validated as equivalent (equipollente) to an Italian degree by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and research (MIUR) or acknowledged as equivalent by the Selection Committee for the sole purposes of the selection.
4.For the sole purposes of the selection, applicants in possession of a foreign University degree must attach to the application form copy of the such degree together with the transcript of records translated into Italian or English. Those who are about to obtain a foreign University degree must attach the transcript of records translated into Italian or English.
5.Other additional documents, duly certified and translated into Italian or English, which may be judged appropriate for the purpose of the evaluation (Diploma Supplement, courses, programmes, exams, etc.) can be also attached.
Scholarship Open for International Students: Yes
Scholarship Description: The number of scholarships to be assigned can be increased only in case new financial support is made available before the beginning of the activities. Scholarships are assigned according to the ranking list drawn up by the Selection Committee. The yearly gross amount is € 13.638,47. Such amount can be increased by 50% for stages abroad lasting minimum one month and maximum 18 months. The scholarships are paid in monthly instalments and are incompatible with other fellowships and grants, except for those delivered by national or international bodies to cover research activities during stages abroad.The enrolment in a PhD course is not compatible with the enrolment in Italy and abroad in other PhD Courses, First cycle and Second Cycle degree courses, courses aiming at 4-years university degree (the so-called, vecchio ordinamento), First level and Second Level Master and Specialisation Schools (all but Medical schools), not including co-tutorship agreements. PhD students enrolled in a PhD course cannot be enrolled in the same PhD course and they will be excluded from the ranking list in case they have participated to the selection procedure.

The international Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Research and Studies
on Eastern Europe (MIREES)* is a Second cycle Joint Degree (120 ECTS),
awarded by the University of Bologna (Forlì Campus) in cooperation with the
Vytautas Magnus University at Kaunas, the Corvinus University of Budapest,
and the Saint-Petersburg State University.
MIREES is an innovative graduate programme, taught entirely in English ,
unique in Italy and Europe, devoted to students that have a BA background in
Economics, Politics, International Relations, History, Agricultural or
Cultural studies at large, and would now like to acquire a specialized,
in-depth knowledge of the Post-socialist Countries in transition, the new EU
member States after the Enlargements of 2004 and 2007, as well as the New
East-European Neighbour Countries.
MIREES combines an academic approach with professional training, forging
potential insightful consultants, analysts, and managers as Area Experts for
international agencies, public administrations, private and public
companies, and NGOs, while also offering a solid basis for further academic
studies at the PhD level.
The programme includes an obligatory period of international mobility (6
months), not only to enhance the learning value of the whole 2nd cycle
degree programme through the attendance of (linguistic and subject-related)
course units with their relative tests, but also for field research which
the students will implement in preparation of their dissertations.

in-depth knowledge of the Post-socialist Countries in transition, the new EU

MIREES combines an *academic approach* with *professional training*, forging
potential insightful consultants, analysts, and managers as Area Experts for
international agencies, public administrations, private and public

The programme produces graduates who are able to analyse, interpret, assess
and manage problems concerning the international dimension particularly of
political, economic and social phenomena in Eastern Europe.
For this purpose, the programme includes learning activities in linguistics,
economics, politological, historical and cultural studies, which are
mutually integrated to provide an in-depth preparation on the operations of
political, social and economic systems in the countries of Eastern Europe
and their role in the international context.
The programme includes an obligatory period of *international mobility* (6
months), not only to enhance the learning value of the whole 2nd cycle
degree programme through the attendance of (linguistic and subject-related)
course units with their relative tests, but also for field research which
the students will implement in preparation of their dissertations.
*Admission requirements** *for prospective students are as follows:
-
a First Cycle Degree (or a certificate of study obtained abroad and
recognised as being suitable), in one of the following disciplinary
fields: Law, Economics, Social Sciences, Humanities and Agriculture;
-
knowledge of English language;
-
essentials computer science skills.
*Two evaluation sessions* are scheduled: the *first one*, with deadline *May,
16**th** 2011*, is open to all candidates; the *second one*, with
deadline *September,
19**th** 2011 *is only for EU students and non-EU students with equivalent
status. Detailed information regarding the application procedure and
documents to submit will be explained in the forthcoming call for
applications. Anyhow, candidates will be requested to send the following
documents:
