MA Peace and Conflict Studies (international double degree) Kent/Marburg‏

The University of Kent and University of Marburg are now accepting applications for the international double degree programme Peace and Conflict Studies for the 2012-2013 year.

This international double award is jointly offered by the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent and the Centre for Conflict Studies at the University of Marburg. Upon successful completion of the programme students will be awarded an MA degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from Kent University and an MA degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Marburg. The two year full-time programme encompasses 120 ECTS credits (240 Kent credits). The programme includes a mandatory internship of at least 10 weeks. The Master dissertation is jointly supervised and marked by academic staff at Kent and Marburg.

This multidisciplinary programme features compulsory modules on theories of conflict, conflict resolution, research methods/methods of conflict analysis and intergroup conflicts. Optional modules cover a wide range of topics including negotiation, mediation, diplomacy, development, critical approaches to peace and conflict studies, international political economy, foreign policy, human rights and terrorism.

Students will spend the first year at Kent University and the second year at Marburg University where courses are taught in English. Thus, international students do not need to speak German to study in Marburg. Alternatively, fluent German speakers can opt to spend the first year in Marburg where compulsory courses will be taught in German and spend the second year in Canterbury. The universities do not operate on a system of deadlines for applying to this programme. We do recommend submitting applications by the end of June 2012. Nonetheless, applications received after this date will still be accepted.

Further information on modules, application requirements, fees, and scholarships is available

at http://www.uni-marburg.de/konfliktforschung/studium/international-d...

and http://www.kent.ac.uk/politics/postgraduates/taught-programmes/mape...

Please note: We can offer five stipends for German nationals. These stipends are funded by the DAAD. These stipends cover the period between September 2012 and March 2013 at Kent University. German applicants who want to be considered for one of the DAAD stipends have to add a written statement of no more than 400 words to the application. This statement should explain why the applicant wants to be considered for a DAAD stipend. German students who want to be considered for a DAAD stipend have to submit their application to Kent University by 01 June 2012. Successful applicants who receive an offer for a DAAD stipend have to both take up the stipend and register at Kent University by 16 July 2012. This stipulation applies for German nationals only who want to be considered for a DAAD grant.

German nationals can also apply for funding by the ´Auslandsbafoeg` funding scheme. If you qualify for funding, the tuition fees at Kent University can fully be covered by a grant (i.e. non-repayable funding) by the ´Auslandsbafoeg` scheme.

List of MBA Scholarships for Developing Country Students

The Master of Business Administration (MBA or M.B.A.) is a master's degree in business administration, which attracts people from a wide range of academic disciplines. The MBA designation originated in the United States, emerging from the late 19th century as the country industrialized and companies sought out scientific approaches to management. The core courses in the MBA program are designed to introduce students to the various areas of business such as accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, operations management, etc. Students in MBA programs have the option of taking general business courses throughout the program or can select an area of concentration and focus approximately one-fourth of their studies in this subject.

Accreditation bodies exist specifically for MBA programs to ensure consistency and quality of graduate business education. Business schools in many countries offer MBA programs tailored to full-time, part-time, executive, and distance learning students, with specialized concentrations. Finding a scholarship for an MBA Degree can be challenging task especially for students from developing countries.  To help prospective MBA students, Student Network has prepared a List of International MBA Scholarships specifically for students from developing countrys.

MA Programe in History, Biligi University Istanbul [DL: 12 September 2011 ]‏

ISTANBUL BILGI UNIVERSITY MA PROGRAM IN HISTORY

Students will be admitted for the 2011/2012 academic year. The Master's Program aims to provide students of diverse backgrounds a firm academic foundation geared towards conducting original research in the field of history with an emphasis on interdisciplinary methods and approaches. Application to the program is not limited to students with undergraduate degrees in history but is also open to those from related fields in the social sciences and humanities. International students are likewise encouraged to apply. Teaching and coursework are conducted in English. Programme objective:
The newly designed English-language Master of Arts in Development Economics is jointly offered by the Department of Economics (Faculty of Economic Sciences) and the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development (Faculty of Agricultural Sciences). It builds on the successful Master of Arts in International Economics and Master of Arts in Agribusiness; these programmes already had a strong specialization in development issues. This research-oriented master programme now offers a comprehensive four semester programme dedicated solely to the study of development economics issues. Its wide course offerings, one semester stay abroad, master thesis and specialization in agricultural economics or economics will enable students to analyse current issues in development economics and prepare them for careers in research or policy.
Selection procedures and criteria:
The selection procedure takes place in two steps with a pre-selection of applicants based on their written application documents followed by a personal selection interview with some of the applicants.
The following points are evaluated in the pre-selection procedure:
final grade of the Bachelor Degree (or the comparable university degree)
letter of motivation
sound knowledge of economic theory documented by a corresponding specialisation and performance in the programme, on which application is based.
Suitable candidates will be invited to a selection interview. The admission committee will inform the applicants of the selection procedure result in writing.
Structure of the Master's Programme
The Master's Programme in Development Economics is four semesters in length during which 120 ECTS are required. It is divided into the course phase and the Master thesis. There are four modules (24 credits) of compulsory modules in development economics and methods. Students can then specialize in agricultural economics or economics, each requiring a further 12 credits (two modules) of compulsory courses in the field of specialization. Then students can choose another five modules in development or agricultural economics from a wide variety of course offerings. Three modules can then be chosen freely also among other subjects and the Master thesis completes the programme.

Students will spend the first year at Kent University and the second year at Marburg University where courses are taught in English. Thus, international students do not need to speak German to study in Marburg. Alternatively fluent German speakers can opt to spend the first year in Marburg where courses will be taught in German and spend the second year in Canterbury. The universities do not operate on a system of deadlines for applying to this programme. We do recommend submitting applications by the end of June. Nonetheless, applications received after this date will still be accepted.
