McMaster University

McMaster University

McMaster University was founded by the Honourable William McMaster and later incorporated as a university in 1887. "Mac" is a large, research-intensive university located in the city of Hamilton. McMaster is known as one of Canada's "most innovative" universities, having pioneered a number of initiatives that have altered how professors and students interact in a modern setting. Problem-based-learning (PBL), pioneered at McMaster, has now spread across North America as a leading method of instruction for undergraduate students.
Our goal is to be known as Canada's most student-centred research university. The "McMaster Model" - a student-centred, problem-based, interdisciplinary approach to learning - has been adopted by universities around the world. We are a leader in the areas of telecommunications, manufacturing, materials and health research.

The University is minutes from downtown Hamilton, Ontario, the ninth largest city in Canada. The campus is located at the western end of Lake Ontario and is restricted to pedestrian traffic. The city of Hamilton is the fourth largest in the province of Ontario.

Housing: McMaster guarantees residence accommodation to Canadian high school students with an 80% (or higher) admission average. The university owns twelve on-campus residence buildings, that can house up to 3,683 students in co-ed or single-sex dwellings.
