Memorial University of Newfoundland





Memorial University of Newfoundland is the largest in Atlantic Canada. It is a comprehensive university that offers over 100 degree programs. The school boasts traditional strengths in engineering, business, geology, and medicine.

There are two campuses in St. John's, one in Corner Brook and one in Harlow, England.

A foundation of European traditions together with a dynamic Canadian attitude provides a learning environment unlike any other in the world. The campus provides safe, clean streets and is a short trip from rugged coastline.

The Daniel Cleary Entrance Scholarship

Daniel Cleary is a native of Harbour Grace, NL and a NHL hockey player who played with the Detroit Red Wings when they won the Stanley Cup in 2008. The Daniel Cleary Entrance Scholarship is established to support an entering full-time undergraduate student in any program of study at Memorial University of Newfoundland. To be eligible, candidates must demonstrate scholarship standing and have participated in the highest level of minor hockey in Newfoundland and Labrador in their graduating year. The scholarship is valued at a portion of the income on the endowment or $1000, whichever is greater, and will be awarded by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards.

The Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited Entrance Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded annually to an undergraduate student entering the first year of an academic program at Memorial University of Newfoundland. It will be valued at $5,000.00 per year. Eligible students must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, graduating from a Canadian secondary school or CEGEP, who demonstrate financial need and have achieved a minimum final admission average of 80%. Outstanding achievements or commitments in community and/or other extra curricular activities may also be considered. The scholarship is renewable for up to four additional years if scholarship standing is maintained. Renewal will also be dependant on continuation of full-time enrolment in the undergraduate program in which the recipient began and he/she must not already have received a degree. The scholarship will be awarded by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards
