The Society is offering internships in several key areas of its activity aimed at assisting those embarking on their career.
WEB EDITING & COMMUNICATIONS
The internship requires an energetic and enthusiastic person to work with the existing CSD team.
During your internship you will be responsible for maximising the Society’s website and its efficient running.
Responsibilities:
Sourcing and advising on relevant content for various specialist sections
Exploiting e-commerce opportunities
Compiling relevant news items and producing daily listings
Managing event listing content
Sourcing images and applying them to the site
Develop, distribute and manage e-communications and e-services for members
Work alongside the external developers on new functionality
Coordinate the website content with other social media
Develop a social media strategy to drive traffic and raise the Society’s profile
Skills required:
Good editorial judgment
Ability to research and source relevant content
Excellent writing, grammatical skills and proofreading ability
Able to develop and produce high quality written material to suit varying audiences
Excel, CMS, Photoshop, HTML would be useful.
Profile:
You will have acquired a good English or Language degree and have an interest in media and/or design. The role will suit someone who is seeking a career in communications and who will take advantage of opportunities this internship provides.
You will be self motivated and ambitious whilst being part of a close team and above all professional with attention to detail and methodology.
You will need boundless energy, enthusiasm, patience and a good sense of humour.
Position:
The internship is offered for 6 months.
Travel expenses will be covered within London and there will be an allowance for lunch.

EVENT ORGANISATION
The internship requires an energetic and enthusiastic person to work with the existing CSD team.
During your internship you will be responsible for assisting in organising the Society’s meetings and events calendar.
Responsibilities:
Identifying possible events and preparing proposals
Identifying relevant training events for the Society's training programme
Assisting in the implementation and management of events
Assisting in the organisation of regional events
Organising online events
Co-ordinate a diary of events and meetings
Assist in identifying and managing collaborative events
Liaise with the communications function to promote events
Provide details about events for inclusion on the Society's website
Skills required:
Good multi-tasking and management skills
Ability to research the market for events and training
Excellent writing, grammatical skills and proofreading ability
Good interpersonal skills
Excel, Word, Photoshop, and dbase skills would be useful
Profile:
You will have acquired a good degree in management or similar discipline and have an interest in event management. The role will suit someone who is seeking a career in event management or hospitality and who will take advantage of opportunities this internship provides.
You will be self motivated and ambitious whilst being part of a close team and above all professional with attention to detail and methodology.
You will need boundless energy, enthusiasm, patience and a good sense of humour.
