2011 Doctorate Program at SGBM University of Freiburg, Germany

Candidates with a medical degree (MD) are eligible for the MD/PhD program. If they are admitted to the school either as track 1 or track 2 students their affiliation to SGBM will entitle them to register for a doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.) at the Faculty of Biology. This applies only to medical doctors who have been selected by SGBM. Participants of the MD/PhD program who have been recruited as track 1 students must carry out rotations. Medical students at the University of Freiburg who envisage to join the MD/PhD program after having completed their MD can join a practical course in Molecular Medicine any time during their studies.More details on the organization of this course can be obtained. While optional, this course is a good opportunity to check one’s inclination towards experimental work.We prescreen hundreds of complete applications and the selection committee assembles a short list of candidates who are invited for interviews in Freiburg. Travel expenses for interviews are covered by SGBM.Funding is awarded based on the results of the interviews and the presentation to the selection committee.
