Encompassing Crescent Online Magazine, reviews and editorial reposnses to The Kite Runner‏

Encompassing Crescent Online Magazine (E.C.) is currently seeking reviews of,
and editorial responses to, Khaled Hosseini’s 2003 novel, The Kite Runner,
and/or its 2007 film adaptation of the same name. Although commonly read in high
school literature classes across America, this novel might indeed be an
inappropriate literary choice in light of the rise of Islamophobia and the
general misrepresentation and misunderstanding of Islam and Muslims in post-9/11
American society. Many young Muslim American students express considerable
discomfort towards the text and its film version – and, no less, toward the
study of the novel as implemented within school curricula. With this, E.C. has
released a call for papers – reviews and editorials – in response to The Kite
Runner and its reading in American schools. E.C. seeks to highlight all
different readings of the text, by Muslims and non-Muslims alike, as a point of
intercultural encounter in post-9/11 American society.
