Who is Ramazan Aras?
Dr. Aras completed his MA thesis, titled Migration and Memory: The Assyrian Identity in Kerboran/Dargeçit, Mardin 1910-1980, at the History Department of Boğaziçi University in 2005. He wrote his Ph.D. dissertation, titled Political Violence, Fear and Pain: The Formation of Kurdishness in Turkey", at the Antrophology Department of Western Ontario University (Canada) in 2009. His research interests are antrophology of emotions, political science, fear, trauma, migration, body, state, memory, space, border and borderlands. Nowadays he continues his research on Brides, Smugglers and Prisoners: Crossings Between Life and Death in the Turkish-Syrian Border.
