The Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict is a non-governmental organisation
that promotes effective conflict prevention and peacebuilding strategies, and actively supports
and connects people working for peace worldwide. GPPAC is a network of civil society conflict
prevention and peacebuilding organizations from around the world, who have worked together
since 2003 towards building a new international consensus on the way in which we approach
violent conflict. GPPAC calls for a fundamental change of approach towards conflict: a shift from
reaction to prevention.
Managing information as a source of knowledge, inspiration, empowerment and action is at the
centre of GPPAC’s work. A Portal has been developed as a platform for civil society to cooperate
and harness the possibilities of the Internet for the prevention of violent conflicts. The Peace
Portal is an initiative of GPPAC, supported by the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs and
the City of The Hague.
The Portal is already live and is continuously being improved. The second half of 2011 will be a
busy period due to the launching campaign and a launching event planned at the end of 2011.
We seek an enthusiastic and motivated intern who will assist us in the editorial work of the
portal and support us in organizing the above mentioned activities.
Tasks will include:
• Support the development of the Peace Portal content
• Support the moderation of Portal content, in accordance with agreed standards
• Edit selected texts/entries to be published
• Support communication and knowledge transfer with external and internal users/partners.
• Promote the Portal in external events/conferences
• Support the logistic arrangements of the final event
