Please note: The University of York is currently reviewing its scholarship arrangements and the information below is therefore subject to change

There are three Scholarships for Overseas Students available to international students at the University of York. Application for these scholarships is online and the application form is on the link to the scholarship you apply for. The deadline for applications to be received is 30th April 2011. Late applications will not be considered.

You must meet certain eligibility criteria for your application to be considered:

• You will pay tuition fees at the overseas rate (i.e. non-EU students)
• You hold either a conditional or unconditional offer for study beginning in October 2011
• You will be studying a full time programme at York (i.e. not HYMS or distance learning programmes)

If you do not meet the eligibility criteria, your application will be automatically withdrawn.

Scholarship for Overseas Students (SOS)

For applicants of any nationality (outside the European Union), wishing to study any subject (excluding HYMS students) at any level as a full-time student at the University of York.

The scholarship is worth one-third or one-sixth of the overseas tuition fee for each year of successful study.

This is a competitive scholarship based on academic merit and financial need.

The deadline for application is 30 April 2011. You must hold an offer for academic study commencing in October 2011 to be eligible to apply.

Overseas Research Scholarship (ORS)

For applicants wishing to commence PhD study at the University of York. Students must be outstanding academically and have the support of their chosen Department at York.

The scholarship will pay the full overseas tuition fee and a stipend of £5,000 per year.

The deadline for application is 30 April 2011. You must hold an offer for academic study commencing in October 2011 to be eligible to apply.

Overseas Continuation Scholarship (OCS)

For current University of York Masters students who are progressing to PhD studies at the University of York.

The scholarship is worth £5,000 as a deduction from tuition fees.

The deadline for application is 30 April 2011. You must hold an offer for academic study commencing in October 2011 to be eligible to apply.

Other scholarships available for overseas University of York students

There are a number of other scholarships which are available to international students at the University of York. The most important thing to remember is to find out the closing date(s) and apply well before then.
